Fizzy Blood @ The Hope and Ruin
by Alice
I was pleasantly surprised last night after seeing Leeds based band, Fizzy Blood at The Hope and Ruin. This isn’t usually the kind of music I would choose to go and see, but my colleague wasn’t able to make it and asked me to go in his stead.

I am so freaking glad I went! From the offset Fizzy Blood came in powerful and totally sucked me in, this five-piece (Benji Inkley on Guitar & Vocals; Tim Malkin on Guitar & Keys; Paul Howells and Ciaran Scanlon on Guitar and Bass and Jake Greenway on Drums) is made up of clearly talented musicians and very entertaining performers. The energy quite literally radiated off them as they jumped around the stage, playing finger-blistering riffs that would break off into lyrical harmonies then kick you in the face with a heavy break down. Seeing how much they were enjoying it made me enjoy it even more, especially the drummer - Jake Greenway, that guy is a force of his own.

It’s hard for me to place what their style is exactly, but if I could make a comparison it would be a cross between Deftones, Muse and Slaves, if you like these bands as ingredients then you will enjoy the delicious product which is Fizzy Blood.
